Public Service Electric & Gas Co. today selected four contractors to build $50 million in ground-mounted solar-energy projects on the utility's property in Edison, Hamilton, Linden and Trenton.

The four solar farms, which will be constructed in the spring, will generate 12 megawatts of grid-connected power for the Newark, N.J., company. They are part of PSE&G's $515 million Solar 4 All program that New Jersey regulators approved last year.

PSE&G chose J. Fletcher Creamer & Son of Hackensack, N.J., to build the Edison project; American Capital Energy of North Chelmsford, Mass., to construct the Hamilton farm; Advanced Solar Products of Flemington, N.J., to build the Linden project, and Sun Edison of Beltsville, Md., to build the Trenton project.
