Harold S. Rosenbluth was appointed president of the Phi Beta Kappa Association of the Delaware Valley, a national society founded in 1776. He is chairman of Rosenbluth Vacations. Joyce S. Kutler, a public relations consultant and former director of public information for the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Philadelphia, was named vice president. Matthew J. DeJulio, a retired publishing executive, is treasurer.

The Avenue of the Arts Inc., an independent nonprofit organization, named Andrew C. Berg, Kenneth Lawrence Jr., and Linda Rosanio to its board. Berg is a partner at Teitelman, Rosenthal, Block, Berg & Co. in Conshohocken. Lawrence is Temple University's senior vice president for government, community, and public affairs. Rosanio is cofounder and CEO of the Star Group.

Nicholas P. Trainer was named chair of the board of trustees at Widener University. He is the retired president of Sartomer Co. Inc., Exton, and a longtime trustee of the university. Trainer assumes the role from David W. Oskin, who was chair for nine years.

Beneficial Mutual Bancorp Inc., the parent company of Beneficial Bank, appointed Karen D. Buchholz and Donald F. Gayhardt Jr. to its board. Buchholz and Gayhardt were also appointed trustees of the bank and directors of Beneficial Savings Bank MHC, the company's parent mutual holding company. Buchholz is vice president of administration for Comcast Corp., Philadelphia, and is the executive in charge of the Comcast Center. Gayhardt was president, secretary, and a member of the board at Dollar Financial Group Inc. until 2008 and has agreed to serve as senior adviser for financial services to Indochina Development Partners LP, an investment fund focused on providing growth equity to private companies in Southeast Asia.

The following were elected officers of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association:

Jim Gratton, general manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown, is president.

Julie Coker, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing, is first vice president.

Rick Staub, general manager of the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, is second vice president.

A.J. Williams, general manager of the Omni Hotel at Independence Park, is secretary.

Allan Darnel, general manager of the Radnor Hotel, St. Davids, is treasurer.

The American Poetry Review, a national publication, elected Michelle A. Newman of the University of Pennsylvania to its board, the first time a college student has been invited to the APR board. Its advisers include some of the nation's leading writers: John Ashbery, Rita Dove, Daniel Hoffman, Galway Kinnell, Philip Roth, Joyce Carol Oates, and Cynthia Ozick. Newman is cocaptain of the women's rugby team at Penn.

Art-Reach, a nonprofit Philadelphia organization that makes cultural experiences more accessible to people with disabilities and economic disadvantages, elected Florine V. Tubb and Harvey Swedloff to its board. Tubb is director of sales and marketing at Magnum Group Inc., Philadelphia. Swedloff is a retired chief financial officer of Ashbridge Corp., Piladelphia.

The Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board, a volunteer commission appointed by the mayor of Philadelphia to govern the public workforce system in the city, named the following to its board:

Ken Carrig is executive vice president of human resources at Comcast Cable, Philadelphia.

Alan Rosenberg is chief of staff and vice president for Temple University Health System, Philadelphia.

Mike Schurr is director of Training, Finishing Trades Institute/District Council 21.

Jennie Sparandara is director of antipoverty initiatives for the City of Philadelphia.

Jonathan M. Grosser was appointed chair of the Montgomery County board of the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, the second-largest chapter in the nation. He is a partner at Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young and a member of the firm's business department.

The Delaware Valley Green Building Council, the Philadelphia chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, elected the following officers to its board:

Joseph Healy, managing principal at Wallace Roberts & Todd L.L.C., Philadelphia, is chairman.

Mike O'Brien, vice president of business development at W.S. Cumby, Gladwyne, is president.

Christopher Minnich, sustainability analyst at Re:Vision Architecture, is vice president.

Abigail Perlstein O'Brien, project and sustainability coordinator at Kitchen & Associates Architectural Services, Collingswood, is vice president.

Spencer Finch, director of sustainable development programs at the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, is secretary.

Jim Kerr, director of sustainability and contract manager at IMC Construction, is treasurer.
