Prices for Philadelphia Gas Works customers will decrease Monday, thanks to falling natural gas prices.
The municipal utility said residential heating customers will pay $1.49 per one hundred cubic feet of natural gas beginning June 1, down from $1.59. Commercial and industrial customers will also see a decrease. The utility is obliged to adjust its rates quarterly to reflect the price it pays for natural gas, which is passed along to customers without markup.
The reduction will save residential customers an average $2.37 a month, said Cameron L. Kline, PGW spokesman. - Andrew Maykuth
