Per-gallon gas prices here are up 37 cents in a month

For the last month, gasoline prices are up by an average 37 cents per gallon in the Philadelphia region. Prices rose by a penny over the weekend in Southeastern Pennsylvania, but held steady from Friday in South Jersey, AAA Mid-Atlantic said today.

Crude oil prices, meanwhile, were falling today as analysts sorted out how much the disaster in Japan will affect global energy demand, the Associated Press reported.

The five-county Philadelphia gasoline average stood today at $3.57 per gallon, while in South Jersey the average was $3.37, the AAA auto club said.

The national average was $3.56 this morning - up 2 cents from Friday and up 43 cents for the month.    – Reid Kanaley
