Stanley W. Silverman, former president and CEO of PQ Corp., has been named chairman of the Drexel University College of Medicine board of trustees. A Drexel alumnus, Silverman has served on the university's board for 11 years and the College of Medicine Board for four. He replaces Manny Stamatakis, who announced earlier this year that he would step down as chairman of the board in May.

Mayor Nutter has appointed Wendell Pritchett, chancellor of Rutgers-Camden, as chair of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority board. Nutter also resigned from the board and named Denise Joy Smyler, a founding partner of the Smyler Firm, Philadelphia, to fill the remainder of his two-year term, which expires March 28, 2013. She served as deputy city solicitor and chief legal counsel to the Philadelphia police commissioner during the Rendell administration.
Nutter appointed Anuj Gupta, executive director of Mount Airy USA, to complete a five-year term on the board that will expire March 28, 2016. Gupta fills the seat formerly held by Asia Coney.
PathWays PA Inc., a Philadelphia nonprofit social-services agency that serves low-income women, children, and families, appointed Cate Sennett to its board. Sennett is an attorney and partner-in-charge of advisory services at Jackson Cross Partners L.L.C.
Congreso de Latinos Unidos, a nonprofit provider of social and educational services to the Latino community in Philadelphia, has named James J. Eisenhower to its board. He is chair of the Government and Regulatory Affairs Practice Group at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis L.L.P.
Chester County Commercial Industrial Investment Council, a nonprofit Exton organization of professionals in commercial and industrial real estate, has elected the following officers and members to its board.
Kevin Flynn Jr., sales manager at Flynn Cos., president.
Trish Faidiga, president of Advantage Building and Facility Services, vice president.
John Doyle, president of Doyle Real Estate Advisors L.L.C., secretary.
Rocco Perate, executive vice president of specialty lending at Square 1 Bank, treasurer.
Named to the board were:
Elaine Battaglia, associate vice president of office services at Grubb & Ellis Co.
Catherine Bianco, leasing representative at Liberty Property Trust.
Tim Connor, vice president of the Chester County Economic Development Council.
Charles Swope, chairman of Swope Lees Commercial Real Estate.
Stephen J. Scherf was elected president of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a professional organization, for 2011-12. Scherf is a principal with Asterion Inc. in Philadelphia.

Mayor Nutter has appointed John J. Soroko and Christopher Arlene to the board of the Free Library of Philadelphia. Soroko is chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia law firm Duane Morris L.L.P. Arlene is a consultant in Public Financial Management Group's Strategic Consulting Practice based in Philadelphia.
The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation has named Andrea Ehrlich to its board. She is a venture strategist and president and chief operating officer of My Mother & Me Ltd.
Stephen G. Pollock was elected chairman of the Lower Moreland Township Zoning Hearing Board. He is of counsel in the business department at Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads L.L.P. He was also reappointed to a second term on the Pennsylvania State Planning Board.
Women's Therapy Center, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization that provides affordable counseling and psychotherapy services with a feminist orientation to low-income women, elected officers for the current year:
Adriana N. Torres, director of school-based services at Children's Crisis Treatment Center, president.
Joan Gordon, a nonprofit consultant and yoga instructor, vice president.
Joni J. Berner, founder and managing partner of Berner, Klaw & Watson, compliance officer.
Simon Randall Weber, an MBA candidate at the Wharton School, treasurer.
Leslie Zavodnick, director in the finance department of Independence Blue Cross, secretary.
Two new members were named to its board:
Lisa J. Jordan, an attorney with Berner, Klaw & Watson.
Jessica T. Wang, an MBA candidate at the Wharton School, Nonprofit Board Fellows Program.
Continuing board members are: Alison Gerig, the center's executive director; Jacqueline Zarro, vice president at Premier Research Group, and Grace Baik, MBA candidate, the Wharton School.
Scott Reid was elected to the board of governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association. His term will run through Dec. 31, 2013. Reid is a member of the general-litigation practice group at Cozen O'Connor and chair of the firm's diversity committee.
Center for Literacy, a Philadelphia nonprofit provider of literacy services, has named Caryn Karmatz Rudy and Fareeha N. Arshad to its board of trustees. Karmatz Rudy is a literary agent with DeFiore & Co., New York. Arshad is vice president at Glenmede, Philadelphia.
J. Bradford has been appointed to the board of managers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School Law Alumni Society. He is Pennsylvania chair of the Construction & Real Estate Litigation Group at Archer & Greiner P.C. in Philadelphia and has represented stakeholders in major public development projects in the region, including construction of Lincoln Financial Field, the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia International Airport, and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
