The Committee of Seventy, a nonpartisan organization advocating clean and effective government, fair elections, and a better-informed citizenry in the Philadelphia region, has elected Glenn Blumenfeld, Carol A. Mager, and Charles P. Pizzi to its board. Blumenfeld is a shareholder at Tactix Real Estate Advisors L.L.C. Mager is of counsel at Console Law Offices L.L.C. Pizzi is former president and chief executive officer of Tasty Baking Co.

Elwyn, the Media human-services agency founded in 1852, has elected Joseph E. Pappano Jr. chairman of the board. Pappano is emeritus staff physician at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Settlement Music School, a nonprofit school of the arts in Philadelphia, has elected the following new members and officers to its central board of trustees:

Barrie Trimingham, a freelance writer and editor, was elected chairwoman.

Steven N. Haas, a member at Cozen O'Connor, was elected secretary.

Susan Golden Jacobson, principal at Jacobson Strategic Communications, was elected assistant secretary.

New members include:  

Adrienne Byrd, vice president, legal and standards and practices, at PBS Kids Sprout Network, and Bruce Leto, a partner at Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young L.L.P.

Ellen S. Friedell, principal at Reaching Agreement ADR L.L.C., was elected president of Settlement Music School.

Kevan F. Hirsch, a principal in the business and commercial litigation and construction law groups of Kaplin, Stewart, Meloff, Reiter & Stein P.C., Blue Bell, was appointed to the board of the M. Patricia Carroll Fund, a nonprofit organization funded by contributions by lawyers and law firms that provides financial assistance for inpatient or outpatient addiction treatment to lawyers with demonstrated financial need.

Arthur Schwartz, a senior scholar for the Center for Character and Leadership Development at the Air Force Academy, has been named founding executive director of the Oskin Leadership Institute at Widener University. The institute will provide opportunities for Widener undergraduate and graduate students to develop their leadership capacities.

The Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council, a Harrisburg trade organization, has named Jeff Peters president. Peters joined Bravo Group in July 2010 as a senior adviser after a career at Sunoco Inc. Bravo manages the PCIC and provides government-relations, communications and public relations, and administrative and technology services for the organization.

Woodlynde School, a college-prep school that serves students with diverse learning styles, has named the following officers and members to its board:

Maryann O'Conor, cosmetic operations manager for the Drug Channel at Procter & Gamble Co., is secretary.

Chuck Riter, manager of the purchasing department at NCO Financial Co., is vice chairman.

Barbara Renninger, treasurer and cochairwoman of the finance committee at the Gesu School, is treasurer.

David Hartzell, managing director in investment banking for Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., who runs its business-services group.

Randie Harmelin, a member of the board and the executive committee of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the JDRF and the Women's Philanthropy Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.

Barry Rorer, a real estate investor and former vice president of the Rorer Group Inc.

Carol Udvarhelyi, a former buyer and merchandizing manager for Child World Corp., Target Corp., and Best Products.
