Michael B. Steinberg has been elected chairman of the board of trustees of the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, a nonprofit Horsham provider of services to seniors. He recently was the board's first vice chairman. Steinberg is vice president and a principal at The Montgomery Benefits Group, Jenkintown.

Depaul USA Inc., a Philadelphia nonprofit social-services organization helping the homeless and disadvantaged, has elected the following to its board:

Kay Gerhardt, a lawyer with Harris & James L.L.P., Macon, Ga.

Bon S. Ku, an assistant professor in emergency medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and CEO and cofounder of Good/Works.

Larry Pearlman, a strategic-planning, business-development, and operations-management consultant and former owner of M.L. Lawrence & Co.

Deeni Taylor, executive vice president for Duke Realty Corp., Indianapolis.

Duane Morris L.L.P. partner Beatrice O'Donnell has been appointed to the board of visitors of Temple University's School of Environmental Design at its Ambler campus.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit group that raises money to find a cure for cancer, has appointed Gianna Jackson and Marc Summers to its board. Jackson is executive director of the Cigna Foundation. Summers is a TV host, producer, and entertainer with his own production company.

  The Center for Literacy, a Philadelphia nonprofit literacy organization, has named Karen Shoener to its board. She is senior vice president at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

        Moorestown Friends School, a day school founded in 1785 by the Religious Society of Friends, has selected four new school committee members:

Toni Proffitt Brown, chief administrative officer at the Delaware River Port Authority;

Mindy Holman, president and CEO of Holman Automotive;

Peter Cronk, a partner with Duane Morris L.L.P. in Philadelphia;

Nick Smith, executive vice president, chief operating officer and owner of The Universal Group Corp., Pennsauken.

Margaret T. Kasner, assistant professor of oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, has been named to the board of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, a 350-acre nonprofit nature center in Philadelphia, has named Timothy Szuhaj to its board. Szuhaj is a partner at Becker Meisel L.L.C., where he is chairman the intellectual-property and technology practice group.

The University City Arts League, a nonprofit West Philadelphia arts and education center, has elected the following officers:

Richard Olaya, an architect and the founder of Olaya Studio L.L.C., is president.

Joanna Waldron, a lawyer who specializes in environmental law for Langsam, Stevens & Silver, is vice president and general counsel.

Vijay Kapoor, the former executive director for the state Office of Management and Productivity, is treasurer. He is a director of the Strategic Consulting sector at The PFM Group.

John S. Summers has been appointed to the board of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, a nonprofit organization that seeks the exoneration and release from prison of those who have been wrongfully convicted. He is a shareholder in the litigation department at Hangley, Aronchick, Segal, Pudlin & Schiller and serves as the firm's legal counsel.
