TD Bank hired Brian D. Gallagher as vice president, relationship manager in commercial real estate finance in its King of Prussia office. He had worked in commercial lending positions at Wells Fargo, Wachovia Bank, Sovereign Bank.

Holy Family University, Philadelphia, appointed Jack V. Kirnan dean of its School of Business Administration and a professor of economics. He recently was dean of the School of Business at the College of New Jersey.

Cigna Corp., the health insurer with large operations in Philadelphia, hired Fernando Moreira as general manager and CEO for Cigna & CMC Life Insurance Co. Ltd. Moreira will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of Cigna's Health Life & Accident business in China. He had been CEO of HSBC Insurance Brazil.

Merck & Co., the Whitehouse Station, N.J., pharmaceutical company with major operations in the Philadelphia area, hired Cuong Viet Do as chief strategy officer and a member of the company's executive committee. He was senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development at TE Connectivity, formerly Tyco Electronics.

Pottstown Area Industrial Development Inc. named Steven Bamford executive director. He had been co-owner and vice president of TCB Marketing.

The Philadelphia Orchestra Association named Craig Hamilton to the new position of vice president for global initiatives and government relations. He most recently was vice president of government and community relations.

Linda Miller was hired as senior director, development services, and Doris Parent was hired as senior director, corporate and foundation relations. Miller most recently was manager, membership systems at WHYY. Parent had been associate director, corporate and foundation relations at Gallaudet University in Washington.

Univest Corp., the Souderton parent company of Univest Bank & Trust Co., promoted Ronald R. Flaherty to president, Univest Insurance, from senior vice president. Kristen Dougherty was promoted to vice president and sales manager from vice president and senior benefits consultant. Joseph J. Haggerty was promoted to vice president and commercial lines marketing manager from senior commercial account manager.

Andy Simpson was hired as director of operations for Philly Live! He had been vice president of the U.S. Northeast region TGI Fridays.
