Laura Powers, vice president of marketing at Furia Rubel Communications Inc., Doylestown, has been appointed to the board of the Central Bucks Rotary, part of Rotary International, the service-club organization.

Grant Rawdin has been elected chairman of the Urban Affairs Coalition, a Philadelphia nonprofit organization. He is the founder and chief executive officer at Wescott Financial Advisory Group L.L.C., Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, a professional association, has elected the following officers and members to its board:

Alan Mittelman, a lawyer at Spector, Gadon & Rosen P.C., Philadelphia, is president.

Mark Eskin, executive vice president/wealth management with Stedmark Partners at Janney Montgomery Scott L.L.C., Philadelphia, is vice president.

Kathleen Kinne, senior trust office with the Goldman Sachs Trust Co., Wilmington, is treasurer.

Easter Seals of Southeastern Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization that promotes the independence of children and adults with disabilities, has elected the following officers and member to its board for 2011-13:

Roy Yaffe, a lawyer with Gould, Yaffe & Golden, is president.

Cummins Catherwood Jr., managing director at Boenning & Scattergood Inc., West Conshohocken, is secretary.

Linda A. McDevitt, managing member of Tax Advisors L.L.C., Mount Laurel, is treasurer.

Durand Academy and Community Services, Mount Laurel, and its fund-raising organization, the Durand Foundation, a nonprofit organization that serves children and adults with special needs, has named Bob Pantaliano treasurer of the foundation board and Mark Tressel treasurer of the academy and community-services board. Pantaliano owns CFO 360 in Voorhees. Tressel is vice president of commercial banking for Beneficial Bank, Philadelphia.

Tony Bartolomeo has been elected chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies' Design Professionals Coalition, a trade association. He is president and CEO of Pennoni Associates Inc., a Philadelphia consulting engineering firm.

Philadelphia Academies Inc., a nonprofit youth-development organization that prepares Philadelphia public high school students for employment and postsecondary education, has announced the following officers and board members:

Teresa Gavigan, of counsel - employment, benefits, and labor group of Blank Rome L.L.P., is chairwoman.

Kevin Dow, chief operating officer and deputy director - Department of Commerce, City of Philadelphia, is vice chairman.

Suzanne M. Bachovin has been elected president of the Philadelphia Area Society for Healthcare Risk Managers, an educational society that advances safe health-care delivery and promotes risk management in the health-care setting. Bachovin, a shareholder and defense lawyer for Christie, Pabarue, Mortensen & Young P.C., specializes in medical professional liability litigation. She was an intensive-care and emergency-medicine nurse for 16 years.

Manor College, a two-year Catholic college in Jenkintown, has named Mary Kolodij and Kathleen J. Sandoski to its board of directors. Kolodij is chairwoman of the Ukrainian Selfreliance Federal Credit Union. Sandoski is a piano teacher at Immaculate Conception School. - Mike Zebe
