Eric H. Weitz has been elected to a three-year term on the board of governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He is a lawyer at Messa & Associates.
Catholic Health East, Newtown Square, has appointed Roberta Waite to a three-year term on its board. Waite is associate professor of nursing and assistant dean of faculty integration and evaluation of community programs for Drexel University, College of Nursing and Health and associate faculty for the Drexel University, Center for Health Equality, School of Public Health.
The Saint Thomas More Society of Philadelphia, an association of Catholic lawyers, judges, and law professors organized to promote the ideals of Saint Thomas More, has elected Joseph D. Mancano president. He is a partner in the law firm of Pietragallo, Gordon, Alfano, Bosick & Raspanti L.L.P. and is vice chairman of the firm's white-collar criminal defense group and a member of the firm's commercial-litigation group.
The Philadelphia Foundation, a nonprofit community foundation established in 1918 that provides grants and scholarships to nonprofit groups in Southeastern Pennsylvania, has elected the following officers and members to its board:
Lawrence J. Beaser, a partner at Blank Rome L.L.P., is chairman.
R. Duane Perry, founder of the Food Trust, is vice chairman.
William Bullitt, a partner at Drinker, Biddle & Reath L.L.P., is treasurer.
Francis Mirabello, a partner and manager at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius L.L.P., is a board member.
The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter, a nonprofit health-advocacy organization, has named Jeff Abrams chairman. He is managing partner at Abrams & Ingersoll L.L.P. He succeeds Ben Ohrenstein, who becomes chair emeritus.
Additionally, four new board members were named:
Julie Strong Karnavas, a relationship manager, portfolio management, in the Philadelphia office of The Glenmede Trust Co.; Robert A. Korn, a partner at Kaplin, Stewart, Meloff, Reiter & Stein P.C.; Janet Unger, president of Unger Consulting Services; and Dominick Bartone, former executive director of customer and trade operations at Wyeth.
Benjamin F. Johns has been elected to a three-year term on the Philadelphia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. He is an associate at Chimicles & Tikellis L.L.P., Haverford.
Morton J. Simon Jr. has been elected president of the American Jewish Committee Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey Regional Office, a nonprofit civil rights group founded in 1906. He is a lawyer at Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads L.L.P., Philadelphia.
William T. Wilson has been elected secretary of the Chester County Bar Association. Wilson is a lawyer at MacElree Harvey Ltd., West Chester. Lawyer Brian Nagle has been reelected president of the Bar Foundation.
Debbie Lillard has been named marketing director of the National Association of Professional Organizers Greater Philadelphia Chapter. She is an author and professional organizer.
John Zurzola, senior associate in the legal-services department of Willig, Williams & Davidson, has been elected chairman of the East Norriton Township Board of Supervisors. Zurzola has also been appointed as the solicitor to the Montgomery County treasurer, Jason Salus.
