The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia science museum, has elected the following members to its board: Sandra K. Baldino, founder and chairwoman of Generocity.org; Michael F. Barry, chairman and chief executive officer of Quaker Chemical Corp.; Joel A. Bernstein, chief financial officer of SAP North America; Richard J. Green, CEO and vice chairman of Firstrust Bank and president, CEO, and vice chairman of Semperverde Holding Co.; Jamie Maguire, chairman and CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Cos.; Paul Offit, the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. ?Vanguard, the Valley Forge mutual fund company, has elected Mark Loughridge and Scott C. Malpass to the board of directors of the Vanguard Group and to the board of trustees of each of Vanguard's mutual funds. Loughridge is senior vice president and chief financial officer at International Business Machines Corp. Malpass is vice president and chief investment officer at the University of Notre Dame.

?Royal Bancshares of Pennsylvania Inc., the Narberth parent company of Royal Bank America, has elected William R. Hartman to its board. He had been chief executive officer of Citizens Republic Bancorp.

?The South Street Headhouse District, a business-improvement district, has elected its 2012 officers: Joette M. Adams, owner of Bistro Romano, is chairman; John Foy, owner of Bridget Foy's, is vice chairman; Daniel Christensen, owner of Copabanana, is treasurer; Marlyn Kline, a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty Corp. Associates, is secretary.

?Friends of Rittenhouse Square, a nonprofit citizens group that works in a public-private partnership with Fairmount Park and the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation to maintain Rittenhouse Square, has named the following board members:

Peter J. Johnson, senior vice president at Pennsylvania Trust; Salem Shuchman, founder and managing partner of Entrepreneur Partners L.L.P.; Lynn Shecter, senior vice president at Oppenheimer & Co.; Richard Vague, managing director of Gabriel Investments; and Arthur Wolk, founding partner of the Wolk Law Firm.

?Worldcom Public Relations Group, a partnership of independently owned public relations counseling firms, has elected Lisa Simon to the Americas Region board of directors as the 2012 partner retention chair. She is president of Simon Public Relations.

?Congreso, a nonprofit provider of social and educational services to the Latino community in Philadelphia, has named Brigitte Daniel to its board. She is executive vice president of Wilco Electronic Systems Inc.

?The Hepatitis B Foundation, a Doylestown nonprofit health-advocacy organization, has named the following to its board: Loren Danzis, a partner at Fox Rothschild L.L.P.; David E. Griffith, president and CEO of Modern Group Ltd. and Thomas Shenk, professor of life sciences in Princeton University's department of molecular biology.

?Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, has named Laura Owen to its board. Owen is a 1979 alumna of the college's business program and CEO of PontSalus.

?The Montgomery County Estate Planning Council, a professional organization for estate-planning professionals, has named the following officers and members to its board: Bernard J. McLafferty Jr., an estate attorney and partner at McLafferty & Kroberger P.C., Erdenheim, is president, succeeding Alan D. Katz of Wealth Development Group, L.L.C., Warrington, who remains on the council; Diane K. Foxman, an estate attorney at Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, is first vice president; Virginia Frantz, president and CEO at the Montgomery County Foundation Inc., is second vice president; Louis Horvath, president of Interventional Associates, is secretary-treasurer.

?Joseph R. Feilmeier, president of Fulton Bank's Premier Division, has been appointed to the board of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

?United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania said J. Gordon Cooney Jr., managing partner of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius L.L.P.'s Philadelphia office, will be its campaign chairman for 2012-13.

?Grant Rawdin has been appointed to Temple University Beasley School of Law's board of visitors for a three-year term. He is president and CEO at Wescott Financial Advisory Group.

?Philadelphia Hospitality Inc., a nonprofit organization that promotes the region as a business and leisure destination, has named Elizabeth H. Barber chairwoman and John J. Kroll vice chairman. Barber is associate dean and associate professor of Temple University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Kroll is president of Keating Hospitality, a division of Keating Building Co. The following have been named to the board: Lydia C. Holiat, a portfolio manager for the Haverford Trust Co., Radnor; Guy Aimen, a commercial property and real estate manager; and Neal Scarbrough, senior director of corporate communications for Comcast.

?Mark Love, senior vice president of development for Jacobs Music Co., has been named to the board of LiveConnections, a nonprofit group that offers music-education programs for city children and special-needs populations and primarily presents performances at World Cafe Live.

??Lois Hayman-El has been elected president of the Philadelphia Alliance of Black Social Workers Inc. Hayman-El is a training specialist at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging.
