Thomas R. Morse was elected chairman of the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia, succeeding William L. Stulginsky, who will remain a member of the executive committee and also chair of the board's development committee. Morse is a principal in Liberty Venture Partners, which he co-founded in 1996.
Citrin Cooperman partner Kevin Ryan was elected chairman of the board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter, a nonprofit health-advocacy organization.
Annamaria Vitelli joined the board of Helpusadopt.org, a national nonprofit group that helps couples and individuals with the cost of their adoptions by awarding grants up to $15,000 for domestic, international and foster-care adoptions. She is team director, senior vice president, at PNC Wealth Management.
The Urban League of Philadelphia elected Tim Smyer and Atif Bostic to its board. Smyer is Walmart's market manager in the Philadelphia area, overseeing 10 local Walmart stores. Bostic is vice president and sales manager of the YourPlace Banking program for Citizens Bank.
Campus Philly, the nonprofit organization that tries to connect employers with students at area colleges, appointed Michael Scales and Frank McGuire to its board. Scales is the associate vice president for student affairs at Temple University, and McGuire is an account development manager at Herman Miller.
Intact Vascular Inc., a Wayne medical-device maker, named Dennis Wahr chairman. He is the former CEO of Lutonix, a Minneapolis firm recently sold to C.R. Bard. New board members include: Carol A. Burns, president and CEO of Intact Vascular; Kathy Crothall, president and CEO of Aspire Bariatrics; Aaron Davidson, managing director at H.I.G. BioVentures; Wes Kaupinen, principal at Quaker Partners, and Peter A. Schneider, co-founder and chief medical officer of Intact Vascular.
Endo Health Solutions Inc., the Chadds Ford maker of branded and generic drugs, appointed Jill D. Smith to its board. Smith most recently was chairman, CEO and president of DigitalGlobe Inc.
Mark J. Freedman was elected president of the Society of Actuaries, for the 2013-2014 term and will serve as president-elect during the association's 2012-2013 year. Freedman is a principal at Ernst & Young.
The board of directors of the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation elected the following officers and a new member: Christopher Stasuk, vice president, small business at TD Bank, is president; Sandra Courtney, a reference and young adult services librarian at the Horsham Township Library, is vice president; Jennifer Hammel, assistant vice president of retail review and cash logistics for First Niagara Bank, is financial secretary; Jean di Sabatino, a retired educator and former director of curriculum and instruction for the Hatboro-Horsham School District, is secretary, and Angela Smart, founder of Deciding to Decide, was named a board member.
Daniel Jeck, a partner at Eisenberg, Rothweiler, Winkler, Eisenberg & Jeck P.C., in Philadelphia, was elected to the board of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.
Stewart Eisenberg, a founder and senior partner at Eisenberg, Rothweiler, Winkler, Eisenberg & Jeck P.C., was appointed to a three-year term to represent the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on the board of governors for the American Association for Justice, a trial bar.
Compliance Management International, a North Wales environmental engineering firm, named the following members to its board: Robert B. Asher, cochairman of the board of Asher's Chocolates; Walter D'Alessio, former executive director of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority and executive vice president of the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corp.; William J. Marrazzo, president and chief executive officer of WHYY Inc.: Joseph W. Marshall 3d, vice chairman of Stevens & Lee and vice chairman of Griffin Holdings Group L.L.C.; John C. McMeekin, former president and chief executive officer Crozer-Keystone Health System and senior vice president of Independence Blue Cross, and Hugh Moulton, former executive vice president and chief operating officer of Unisource Corp.
Warwick S. Wheeler was elected president of Overbrook School for the Blind. Wheeler serves as an advisor, particularly on development issues, and is actively involved with the China Partnership of Greater Philadelphia. He also is chairman of the Philadelphia Committee on Foreign Relations, and secretary and former chairman of the International Visitors Council of Philadelphia. Additional officers include Robert B. Gallant, director of operations at JD Bravo Co. Inc. in Malvern, is vice president; Marjorie G. Stein, director of employee relations at Cigna Corp., will also serve as vice president; Elizabeth Gephart, a consultant to the the Baldwin School, is secretary; Elizabeth Passanante, a Spanish interpreter for the Philadelphia Health Department, is alumni representative, and Robert L. Pratter, of counsel at Duane Morris L.L.P., is a board member.
John G. Papianou was named to the board of trustees of the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia. He is a partner at Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads L.L.P.
Neil Boyden Tanner, chief counsel of Cigna Global Health Benefits, was named to the board of trustees of the American University in Rome.
James L. Coyne was appointed chairman of Chester County Futures, a nonprofit that works with middle and high school students providing academic, mentoring and scholarship support. Coyne is the executive officer and co-founder of Modevity L.L.C. - Mike Zebe
