The Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Commission, which advises the city Department of Parks and Recreation on guidelines for land use, sustainability programs, and the management of park and recreation space, said Mayor Nutter appointed these members:

Nancy Goldenberg, chair. She is senior vice president of programs and planning for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, founder of the Philadelphia Outward Bound Center, and chair of Summer Search Philadelphia.

Andy Denison, a marketing consultant.

Debra Wolf Goldstein, president of Conservation Matters L.L.C.

Jeffrey Hackett, president of the Helen G. Sturgis Advisory Board.

Leslie Anne Miller, board member of the Fairmount Park Conservancy and executive-committee member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

Matthew Perks, a lawyer in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.

Carol Rice, who retired from the Department of Recreation and is chair of the Warrington Township Park and Recreation Board.

Sarah Clark Stuart, campaign director of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and co-coordinator of the Schuylkill River Park Alliance.

James Straw, a retired partner of KSK Architects Planners Historians Inc.

Catherine Nguyen has been named to the board of Pearl S. Buck International, the Perkasie nonprofit organization that provides international adoption services and children's assistance. Nguyen is an attorney in the litigation department at Eastburn and Gray's Doylestown office.

The Philadelphia Public Relations Association elected the following officers and members to its board of governors:

Kera Armstrong, a senior associate with Ceisler Media & Issue Advocacy, is president.

Bonnie Grant, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, is president-elect.

Meredith Avakian Hardaway, public-affairs specialist for DuPont Co., is treasurer.

Lisette Bralow, public-relations chair of the Philadelphia Folk Festival and owner of a real estate investment company, is vice president, external affairs.

Jessica Lawlor, marketing and communications coordinator at Visit Bucks County, is vice president, programs.

Jill Flanagan, a professor in the communication department at Villanova University, is vice president, membership.

Ashley Berke, director of public relations for the National Constitution Center, is vice president, communications.

Nina Scimenes, marketing coordinator for AMResorts, is secretary.

Christopher Lukach, senior vice president, chief operating officer, and a member of the ownership team at Anne Klein Communications Group L.L.C., is immediate past president (chair).

Directors for 2012-2013:

Eric Cortes, marketing and promotions coordinator at WWSI Telemundo Philadelphia.

Christina Crews, director of communications for the Philadelphia and Delaware offices of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Darren Behuniak, director of marketing and communications for the Devon International Group.

Natural Lands Trust, a Media nonprofit conservation group, named John R. Harris to its board of trustees. Harris had served as an official of Worcester Township in the posts of Planning Commission chairman, Open Space coordinator, and member of the Board of Township Supervisors. He is owner and president of Blue Bell Leasing Co.

Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, a nonprofit dedicated to providing temporary housing and supportive services to families while their children receive critical medical care at local hospitals, has elected the following to its board:

Marian Conicella, vice president, publisher and chief revenue officer of Metro Corp's Philadelphia magazine.

John Maris, chief, Division of Oncology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and director, Center for Childhood Cancer Research.  

Elizabeth Reeves, retired chief human resources officer and human resources consultant.

Engineers' Club of Philadelphia elected the following officers and directors for 2013:

E. Mitchell Swann, partner of MDC Systems, is president. He succeeds Robert M. Wright, vice president for streetscape/municipal engineering at Urban Engineers Inc., who will remain on the board as past president.

James P. Markham, associate vice president at Pennoni Associates Inc., is president-elect.

Michael V. Griffin, senior vice president at Hill International Inc., is vice president.

Directors include:

Back on My Feet, a nonprofit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of people experiencing homelessness by engaging them in running, named Anne Berkowitch to its national board of directors. She is co-founder and CEO of SelectMinds.

Clarifi, previously Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley, a group that helps people overcome their financial struggles through one-on-one counseling and financial education, named the following board members:

Karen Walters, senior director at Independence Blue Cross.

Wayne Anglace, vice president, senior portfolio manager, at Delaware Investments.
