The number represents about 35 percent of the state's electric customers, who consume about 60 percent of the power. Retail power markets opened up to competition in 2010.

Peco Energy Co., the dominant utility in Southeastern Pennsylvania, reported that 518,000 customers have switched suppliers. Customers who want to switch can visit the PUC's shopping site: www.papowerswitch.com.
