The University of the Sciences has hired James Waldon director of public safety. He was director of police and safety at Gannon University and a county detective for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Newark.

Robert Boova has been appointed professor of surgery at Temple University School of Medicine and chief of cardiovascular surgery at Jeanes Hospital. He was associate professor of surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a member of the Division of Cardiac Surgery, Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute, University Hospitals, Case Medical Center, in Cleveland.

National Penn Bancshares, Inc., Boyertown, promoted Louis M. Caruso to vice president from manager and trainer for the company's Southern Region.

FMC Professional Solutions, a division of FMC Corp., Philadelphia, named Bob West as national pest-segment manager. He had been regional business manager for the company's North American crop division's Western region.
