On the Boards

Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, a nonprofit organization that organizes Philadelphia's largest regatta, elected Benjamin Speciale and Jennifer Wesson to its board. Speciale is managing member of Speciale L.L.C., Philadelphia and New York. Wesson is community-development manager at the Delaware County Office of Housing and Community Development.

The Center for Professional Innovation and Education, a provider of biotech and pharmaceutical training courses, elected Michael Pierro chairman of its advisory board. He is founder and principal consultant at Clinical Operations & Educational Resources.

Board members include: John Geigert, president of BioPharmaceutical Quality Solutions; Janet Gough, a consultant in systems, documentation, and training; Bill Hall, president of Hall & Pharmaceutical Associates Inc.; Byron Larson, president of Toltec International Inc. and Kerry Potter, president of Summit Consulting Inc.

Bryan Tham was named president and Kali Wellington-James vice president of the executive board of the Villanova Law School Minority Alumni Society. Both are associates at Pepper Hamilton.

Andrew March, a senior executive at Accenture, was named to the board of the National Adoption Center.

    John F. Dailey Jr., a partner at Bowman & Co. L.L.P., Voorhees, was elected president of the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy, the regulatory board for certified public accountants and public accountants in the state.

Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools, West Chester, named the following to its board of trustees: Ashley DeMauro, Pennsylvania state director for StudentsFirst; Katherine Merseth, senior lecturer on education and director of the teacher-education program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education; and Jeffrey Piccola, a partner at Boswell, Tintner and a former member of the Pennsylvania Senate.

           The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia appointed the following to its Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council: David E. Gillan, chairman and CEO of County Bank, Rehoboth Beach; Thomas M. Petro, president and CEO of Fox Chase Bancorp Inc., Hatboro; and Gregory A. Smith, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, Harrisburg.

Ron Stuck, a partner at KPMG L.L.P., was named to the board of PLAN of PA, which provides planning, trust, and care-management services to families of special-needs adults.

Greener Partners, a Malvern nonprofit, named Joanne Crozier, senior manager, department head at Vanguard, to its board.

Amy Wilson, associate vice president, development at Widener University, was named to the board of the Athletic Advantage Fund.

Helene Furjan, a doctor and assistant professor in the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania, was named to the board of the Urban Industry Initiative, a Philadelphia Department of Commerce community and economic-development agency.

Delaware Valley Grantmakers, a Philadelphia nonprofit forum for philanthropy, elected the following officers and members to its board: Susan A. Segal, program officer at Lincoln Financial Foundation, Philadelphia, is president; Russell Johnson, president and CEO of North Penn Community Health Foundation, Colmar, is secretary; Sara Moran, a trustee at Seybert Foundation, Philadelphia, is vice president; and Valerie Martin, chief financial officer at John Templeton Foundation, West Conshohocken, is treasurer.

The following were named to the board: Ruth Clauser, president of the Sunoco Foundation, Philadelphia, and Anna Guarneri, program associate with the William Penn Foundation, Philadelphia.

Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau has named Scott G. Huston to its board. He is president of the Graystone Society's National Iron & Steel Heritage Museum, executive director of the Stewart Huston Charitable Trust, and president of Huston Properties.

The Walden School, Aston, reelected Jonathan Peri chairman of its board of trustees. He is vice president and general counsel at Neumann University, and director of the university's Center for Community Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship.

Michael J. Savona was appointed to the board of Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. He is a lawyer at Eastburn and Gray.

               Katayun I. Jaffari, a partner in Ballard Spahr's Business and Finance Department, has been named co-chair of the American Bar Association's Task Force on Board Engagement on Sustainability and Social.
