Hemispherx Biopharma Inc., an advanced specialty pharmaceutical company in Philadelphia, named Thomas Equels chief financial officer and Adam Pascale chief accounting officer. Equels is executive vice chairman, secretary, and general counsel for the company. Pascale has been controller for 18 years.

Christopher D. Carusone, formerly Gov. Corbett's secretary of legislative affairs, joined the Philadelphia law firm Conrad O'Brien as partner, resident in the firm's Harrisburg office. He will focus his practice on representing individuals in the public and private sector, corporations, and other entities under investigation or the subject of litigation or other criminal and civil enforcement proceedings brought by the government.

Radnor law firm McCausland Keen & Buckman hired Crystal Garcia as its first marketing director. She had been marketing director for Reger Rizzo & Darnall in Philadelphia.

David J. Martin joins the firm's real estate group. Martin was an associate with Martin & Lunger in Wilmington.

Maria Vizcarrondo was named executive director of the Nerney Leadership Institute at Cabrini College. She had been president and chief executive officer of Health-e-CITi-NJ, a federally funded health-information exchange in North Jersey.

Abdullah M.S. Al-Osaimi was appointed associate professor of medicine and chief of hepatology at Temple University School of Medicine and medical director of liver transplantation at Temple University Hospital. He had been associate professor of medicine and surgery and medical director of liver transplantation at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville.

Bethesda Project, a nonprofit serving Philadelphia's homeless, named Domenic Rossi, founder of the group, chief executive officer. Assuming the day-to-day operations is Tina Pagotto, chief operating officer. She had been associate director. Jason Miller, associate director of clinical programs, will now also serve as director of strategic initiatives.

Weisman Children's Rehabilitation Hospital named Shannon Sherry director of nursing of the Weisman Children's Medical Day Care Center in Pennsauken. She began as a staff nurse at the facility in 2012.

National Penn Bancshares Inc., Boyertown, named Steven D. Bell executive vice president and director of human resources. He had been director of human resources-vascular division at Teleflex Inc., Reading. Steven R. Walker was named assistant vice president and a relationship manager in its private banking group. He had been a private banking underwriter for First Niagara Financial Group.

Republic Bank named Gina Iacoviello a vice president and manager of the new Republic Bank store in Cherry Hill. She had served as a store manager for TD Bank.

Krasno, Krasno & Onwudinjo, Philadelphia, hired Sarah Reese as a workers' compensation lawyer. She had been an equity shareholder at Post & Schell P.C. in Philadelphia for 26 years.

Joseph Capone was named executive director and business manager for the nonprofit Friends of Washington Crossing Park. He had been general manager of the Princeton Festival.

Philadelphia magazine named Ashley Patterson associate publisher, responsible for sales and marketing of the magazine's complete product portfolio: Philadelphia magazine, Phillymag.com, Be Well Philly, G Philly, Foobooz, Birds 24/7, Property, Shoppist, Design Home, and all experiential marketing programs. She had been director, Fashion & Beauty Channel, at PopSugar, New York.

Wouch, Maloney & Co. L.L.P., a Horsham CPA firm, hired Duane Brazuk as tax manager. He had been a tax manager at Fesnak & Associates, L.L.P.

CBRE Group Inc. hired Brad Nathanson as executive vice president of retail capital markets in its Conshohocken office. He had been first vice president for investments and senior director of the national retail group at Marcus & Millichap.

Patrick J. Gallo Jr. was hired as an associate in the civil and commercial litigation department at MacElree Harvey Ltd., West Chester. He had been a summer associate and law clerk at the firm.

The Curtis Institute of Music appointed Kristen Loden senior vice president of development. She had been vice president of development and campaign director at the Aspen Institute.

Charles G. Lewis was appointed executive vice president of external relations and strategic development at Thomas Jefferson University and the TJUH System. He had been senior vice president for external affairs at the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
