Spark Therapeutics L.L.C., a Philadelphia company developing gene-based medicines for debilitating diseases, has named Rogerio Vivaldi chief commercial officer. Vivaldi, former head of rare diseases at Genzyme, a Sanofi company, and former CEO of Minerva Neurosciences, has served as a board member at Spark since April 2014. At Minerva Neurosciences, he led the development of a portfolio of innovative product candidates addressing neuropsychiatric diseases and the successful completion of an initial public offering.

Philadelphia executive-search firm Diversified Search has named Sharmila Anand a managing director in the procurement and supply-chain practice and a core member of the chief financial officer functional practice in its New York office. Anand had been managing director at boutique firm Raines International.

Salveson Stetson Group Inc., a retained executive-search firm in Philadelphia, has expanded its life sciences practice group with the addition of Mark Gold, former CEO of Gold Partners, who has joined the firm as a strategic partner. Gold led Gold Partners, a retained search practice that specialized in physician placements for the life sciences industry.

Scott W. Hollander has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Echo Therapeutics Inc., a Philadelphia medical-device company focused on skin permeation, continuous glucose monitoring, and associated technologies. He most recently served as vice president, business development, at Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, as well as president and CEO of Interpharma-Praha, an Otsuka subsidiary company.

Racquel Assaye has been promoted to chief financial officer of Philadelphia's Mazzoni Center, which provides health and wellness services to the LGBT community.

He had been director of HR and labor and employment counsel for the Phoenixville Area School District and vice president of HR, counsel, at Hersha Hospitality Management L.P.

Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia has promoted Dawn Michelizzi to senior vice president for finance and chief financial officer, from controller.

American Water Works Co., Voorhees, a publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, has hired Edward Vallejo as vice president of financial strategy, planning and decision support. He had been vice president of investor relations.

Steven Bojarski has joined the active medical staff at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, department of internal/family medicine-neurology, as a neurologist. Bojarski completed residency training at Temple University Hospital and Louisiana State University.

Boenning & Scattergood Inc., West Conshohocken, an independent securities, asset-management and investment banking firm, said Ryan M. Connors has rejoined the equity research team as managing director and senior research analyst covering the water and infrastructure sector. He had been managing director at Janney Montgomery Scott L.L.C.

Jennifer Reese, a behavioral science researcher and licensed psychologist, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center's Cancer Prevention and Control Program as an assistant professor. She was assistant professor of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore.

The University of the Arts has named Richard M. Longo vice president for enrollment, retention and student affairs. He had been executive vice president, along with his role as dean of admissions and enrollment services, at Montserrat College of Art in Massachusetts.

Deanne Taylor has joined Children's Hospital of Philadelphia as director of the department of biomedical and health informatics, which provides services and applications to assist the hospital's clinical staff and researchers better manage and access biomedical information. Taylor had been director of bioinformatics at Reproductive Medical Associates of New Jersey and an assistant professor at Rutgers-RWJ Medical School.

A former program specialist, he trains people with intellectual disabilities for jobs in various industries and companies.

Marinus Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Radnor biopharmaceutical company developing neuropsychiatric therapeutics, has hired Albena Patroneva as chief medical officer.
