The board of trustees of the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia, has elected the following: John J. Aglialoro, an independent entrepreneur and chairman and co-founder of UM Holdings Ltd.; Catherine Hughes, chairperson and founder of Radio One Inc., the largest African American-owned and -operated broadcast company in the United States; and Gregory Charles Miller, a pharmaceutical industry executive, owner of GMP Consortium L.L.C. and a longtime education philanthropist.

Philadelphia, has elected the following: John J. Aglialoro, an independent entrepreneur and chairman and co-founder of UM Holdings Ltd.; Catherine Hughes, chairperson and founder of Radio One Inc., the largest African American-owned and -operated broadcast company in the United States; and Gregory Charles Miller, a pharmaceutical industry executive, owner of GMP Consortium L.L.C. and a longtime education philanthropist.

QR Pharma Inc., a privately held Berwyn biopharmaceutical company, elected Michael Hoffman chairman. Hoffman is a partner of Riverstone Holdings L.L.C., where he is responsible for investments in power and renewable energy, and is co-head of Riverstone's Renewable Energy Funds I and II. Additionally, Dhesh Govender, CEO and founder of developmental stage biotechnology company Tara Immuno-Oncology L.L.C., was named a director.

Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, a state-funded nonprofit that invests in technology firms, elected the following board members: Jason Armstrong, senior vice president of investor relations at Comcast Corp.; Ajay Raju, co-chairman and CEO of Dilworth Paxson; and Tucker Twitmyer, senior vice president of corporate development for Franklin Square.

The Multicultural Affairs Congress (PHLDiversity), a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, has named the following directors to its advisory board: Darryll Adams, general manager of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Philadelphia; Johann Calhoun, news and special projects editor at the Philadelphia Tribune; and Tiffany Tavarez, corporate contributions manager at Peco Energy.

Rosemary Loverdi was elected executive secretary of Commercial Real Estate Women Philadelphia, a professional network for women in commercial real estate. She is a partner at Dilworth Paxson L.L.P., Philadelphia.

Reed Smith L.L.P. named Philadelphia senior associate Nipun J. Patel its 2015 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow. Reed Smith is a co-founder of the LCLD Fellows Program, a structured mentoring initiative designed to increase diversity at the leadership levels in law firms and corporate legal departments.

Grant Thornton L.L.P., Chicago, elected Jim Wittmer, east region leader of the strategic federal tax services practice in the firm's Philadelphia office, to its partnership board.

Vertex Inc., a privately held provider and developer of tax software in Berwyn, has named Kevin Robert to its board. Robert had a 32-year career with Wolters Kluwer/Commerce Clearing House, where he was CEO of the global tax and accounting division. He succeeds Rich Teerlink.

Austin Dutton, principal and chief investment officer of Bridge Valley Financial Services L.L.C., was elected to the Alternative and Direct Investment and Securities Association, a trade association of alternative investment and securities industry professionals.

Carina M. Nicklas, Elizabeth N. Palmer, and JoEllyn Powell were appointed to the board of the Alice Paul Institute. Nicklas, a financial management professional, was a senior consultant to the United States Department of Defense and senior manager of America Online. Palmer is an associate at True, a global executive search firm. Powell is a treasury management sales consultant for Wells Fargo Bank. The nonprofit institute is dedicated to teaching girls about leadership and equality, and to educating the public about New Jersey's most famous suffragist, Alice Stokes Paul.

The Business Marketing Association Philadelphia elected the following officers: Steve Archibald, director of marketing at Herrin Publishing Partners, Malvern, president; Krista Souto, an independent marketing consultant, president-elect; Allison Lattanze, digital marketing manager at McKesson, Jeffersonville, treasurer and secretary; Christine Batycki, global marketing communications at Brooks Instrument, Hatfield, membership chair; Ken Peffer, manager, marketing and business development for Main Line TeleCommunications, Aston, programming chair; and Felipe Obando, vice president of marketing at Essent Guaranty, Radnor, communications chair.
