Pottstown Memorial Medical Center has hired Rich Newell as chief executive officer. He joins the hospital from Carlisle Medical Center. where he has served as CEO.

Christopher G. Mavros has been hired as an associate in the casualty and professional liability defense practice group at the Philadelphia law firm Zarwin Baum DeVito Kaplan Schaer Toddy P.C. He had been national and regional trial counsel for Ford Motor Co. and American Honda Motor Co. Inc.

Mann Center for the Performing Arts, Philadelphia, has hired Toby Blumenthal as vice president for artistic planning and chief innovation officer. Blumenthal, currently director of rentals and presentations for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, is expected to assume his responsibilities in September.

Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University has appointed Gregory Kane chair of the department of medicine. Kane, who is the Jane and Leonard Korman Professor of Pulmonary Medicine and an active pulmonary and critical care subspecialist, also served in key leadership roles at Jefferson as vice chair for education and program director of the internal-medicine residency.

Chester Charter School for the Arts has promoted Akosua Watts to head of school, from principal of the K-8 program.

Firstrust Bank has promoted Kathleen McGarvey to senior vice president of the risk management department, from vice president.

Women's Resource Center of Delaware County has named Teresa Wolfgang executive director. She is a colonel in the Army Reserve who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
