Area hospital pays fine for not treating HIV-positive patient
Mercy Suburban Hospital, in East Norriton Township, agreed to pay $25,000 to settle allegations that one of its physicians violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by refusing to treat an HIV-positive patient who sought bariatric surgery, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said.

The settlement was based on a complaint brought by the AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania. Mercy admitted no wrongdoing in the July 2013 incident. The settlement was dated Sept. 23.
