Children's Hospital of Philadelphia named Douglas G. Hock as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective Feb. 1, the hospital said Tuesday.

Hock, a Philadelphia native, is president and chief operating officer of Children's Medical Center Dallas, which is part of the $1.1 billion in annual revenue Children's Health System of Texas. Hock managed a 428-bed hospital and opened a 72-bed satellite location.

CHOP's previous second in command, Madeline Bell, succeeded Steven M. Altschuler as chief executive of CHOP on July 1.
