Temple Hospital CEO to leave for Newark, NJ hospital

Temple University Hospital's chief executive, John N. Kastanis, will leave March 1 to for a job as CEO of University Hospital, in Newark, N.J., Temple University Health System annouced Tuesday.

Temple University Hospital's chief executive, John N. Kastanis, will leave March 1 to for a job as CEO of University Hospital, in Newark, N.J., Temple University Health System annouced Tuesday.

University Hospital has 519 beds and is the primaryteaching hospital for Rutgers University's New Jersey Medical School, Temple said.

Kastanis took over at Temple University Hospital on an interim basis in Dec. 2011, and was appointed CEO permanently the following August.

"By virtually every metric, John leaves TUH a stronger and more vibrant academic hospital than it was when he arrived," said Larry R. Kaiser, CEO of Temple's health system.
