Wistar Institute, a West Philadelphia nonprofit specializing in basic biomedical research with a focus on cancer and vaccines, has hired Tara Yates as director of communications. She was director of public affairs in the marketing department at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.

Reed Smith has elected the following partners in its Philadelphia office: Kerry Halpern, a member of the corporate and transactional advisory group; Sara A. Lima, a member of the state tax practice; and Nipun J. Patel, a member of the commercial litigation group.

The Hill at Whitemarsh, a nonprofit continuing-care retirement community, has promoted Peter Fleming to chief operating officer, from chief financial officer. He had been president of Cresheim Creek Capital.

Andrew C. Krakowski has joined DermOne, a Conshohocken network of comprehensive dermatology practices, as chief medical officer. He had been director of medical innovation for Rady Children's Hospital, San Diego., and is a sub-specialty pediatric dermatologist, and laser expert.

Lincoln Financial Group, Radnor, has promoted Kenneth S. Solon to executive vice president and chief information officer. He will also sit on the company's senior management committee. Solon had been senior vice president, responsible for enterprisewide information technology, administrative services, and the digital business group.

Bryn Mawr Bank Corp., parent of Bryn Mawr Trust Co., has named Keith B. McCutcheon senior vice president and treasurer of the corporation and the bank. Before joining the bank, he was chief investment officer and treasurer of Susquehanna Bank.

King of Prussia-based MRO Corp., which produces computer programs to transmit health information between providers such as doctors' offices and hospitals, has hired Rita Bowen as vice president, privacy, HIM policy, and education. She had been senior vice president and privacy officer for HealthPort Inc.

Ursinus College, Collegeville, has named David Tobias vice president for enrollment, a cabinet-level position. He was dean of admission at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

Mario T. Milano, patent and trademark lawyer, has been hired as an associate at the Wilmington intellectual-property law firm Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel L.L.P. He was a patent agent and associate at Lerner, David, Littenberg, Krumholz & Mentlik L.L.P., Westfield, N.J.

Mannion Prior L.L.P., King of Prussia, has named Jennifer DiVeterano Gayle a partner of the firm. She had been an associate.
