Haddon House, of Medford, being sold
United Natural Foods Inc. agreed to pay $217.5 million in cash for Haddon House Food Products Inc., a Medford distributor of thousands of ethnic, natural and organic, gourmet, kosher, frozen, dairy, and deli items to supermarkets and other stores, United Natural said Monday.

Haddon House, founded in 1960, had net sales of $533 million last year, Steven Spinner, United Natural's chief executive officer told stock analysts on a conference call.
Spinner said members of Haddon House's founding family, David Anderson Sr. and David Anderson Jr. will continue to lead Haddon House, which says on its web site that it employs 1,300.
Information on any impact on local jobs was not immediately available.
Haddon owns distribution centers in Howell, N.J., and Richburg, S.C.
United Natural has distribution facilities in Northeast Philadelphia and Logan Township, Gloucester County.
