Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation names two directors
The Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation, a nonprofit that uses hockey to help teach inner-city boys and girls how to succeed in the game of life, has named Paul Holmgren, president of the Philadelphia Flyers, and Paul Troy, a partner at the law firm of Kane, Pugh, Knoell, Troy & Kramer L.L.P., to its board.

Timothy J. Abell, president of Firstrust Bank, Conshohocken, has joined its board of directors. In 2007, Abell became the first nonfamily member named president of the bank.
Chris Sullivan, managing director of New York-based Barclays Capital and head of its financial sponsors group in investment banking, has been elected chairman of the board of Cradles to Crayons-Philadelphia. The West Conshohocken-based nonprofit provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items such as clothes, diapers, toys, books, and school supplies.
JDog Junk Removal & Hauling, a Berwyn firm working to increase career opportunities for military veterans, has named Retired Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Al Gourlay to the JDog Joint Chiefs advisory board. The board is composed of military veterans and successful entrepreneurs who provide leadership and counsel to the company and its franchisees. Gourlay served in the Marines for 30 years and retired in 2005. Afterward, he worked as a support contractor with the Marine Corps Systems Command.
Susan G. Komen Philadelphia, a nonprofit health advocacy group, has named Melissa Ludwig vice president. She is district vice president of Macy's. Also, Neal Cupersmith, a founding partner at Cupersmith, Wilensky, Steiger, Sempler & Co. L.L.P., has been named treasurer.
New board members include: Natasha Brown, anchor at Eyewitness News, CBS 3/The CW Philly; Ellen Cavanaugh, vice president, support services at Peco; Stanton Myerson, president of Hillgate Investments Inc.; and the Rev. Blaine Newberry, associate pastor of fellowship at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Philanthropy Network Greater Philadelphia, a regional membership association for organizations and individuals active in philanthropy, has elected Amy Snyder treasurer. She is chief financial officer and treasurer of the Connelly Foundation in West Conshohocken.
New board members include Kevin Dow, senior vice president of impact and innovation of the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and Romona Riscoe Benson, director of corporate relations at Peco, Philadelphia.
Beyond Celiac, formerly the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, Ambler, named Glenna M. Crooks to its business advisory council. She is the founder of SageLife and was a Reagan administration appointee and a global vice president at Merck.
SunGard Availability Services, a Wayne provider of information availability, has appointed Randy J. Hendricks to its board. He has served as executive sponsor for Workday Inc. and had been managing partner and general manager, public sector, North America, within the global business services division at IBM Corp.
Formula Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately held Berwyn immuno-oncology company, has appointed Malcolm K. Brenner to its scientific advisory board. He is founding director of the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at Baylor College of Medicine. Formula is developing immunotherapies leveraging Cytokine Induced Killer (C.I.K.) cells targeting cancer and autoimmune disease.
Brenner is a professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Medicine, Section of Hematology-Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is also the founding director of the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at The Methodist Hospital and Texas Children's Hospital.
Actua Corp., a publicly-held -vertical cloud company in Radnor, has elected H. Richard Haverstick Jr. to its board. Haverstick, Jr. is treasurer, trustee and chair of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee of Thomas Jefferson University and Health System. He retired as a managing partner of Ernst & Young L.L.P. . Haverstick, Jr. spent 39-years with Ernst & Young where he held many senior leadership roles, including global financial services partner, managing partner of the Philadelphia office, Philadelphia partner-in-charge of financial services, and Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Region Banking Leader. He also serves on the Dean's Council at the Temple University Fox School of Business and as the chair of the Accounting Department Advisory Board at The Fox School.
The Philadelphia Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association has elected Joseph Buckley, operations controller of Allan Myers, as its new president. His executive committee includes vice president Jim McGettigan, director, construction industry services, of CBIZ MHM L.L.C.; treasurer Joe Gravenstine, chief financial officer of B.
