PA casino revenue plunges, weather cited

Casino revenue in Pennsylvania continued on a downward trend in January with revenue from table games declining by more than 1 percent.

Gross revenue for table games - which includes poker, blackjack, craps and roulette - dipped slightly to $58.7 million from last year's $59.4 million.

The take from slot machines saw an even greater decline, nearly 9 percent, as revenues fell to $171.8 million in Jan. 2014 from last year's $188.2 million.

A spokesman for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board attributed the January drop to the numerous snow storms and extreme cold that affected all parts of the state.
