Dorland ad agency bought for $21 million

Dorland Global Corp., a Philadelphia advertising and public relations agency, said today it is being purchased by Huntsworth PLC, a British public relations firm.

Dorland Global Corp., a Philadelphia advertising and public relations agency, said today it is being purchased by Huntsworth PLC, a British public relations firm.

The price is $20.7 million, but that may rise to as much as $50 million based on Dorland's profits this year.

Dorland, founded in 1971 by Harry and Rita Sweeney, has 150 employees in Philadelphia and San Francisco. It focuses on the healthcare industry, including GlaxoSmithKline and Centocor as clients. In 2006, it had a pretax profit of $3.5 million.

It will become part of Hunstman's healthcare division. Hunstman is an international public relations firm based in London.
