Susquehanna International creates private equity unit

Susquehanna International Group LLP of Bala Cynwyd said today it created a private equity unit, Susquehanna Growth Equity LLC., which is expected to invest $50 million in its initial year.

The investnments will be focused on financial technology, software, business services and specialty finance opportunities.

Susquehanna Growth is part of a larger effort by the company, which already has private equity groups making foreign and domestic investments.

"We anticipate this initiative will . . . provide a significant new engine of growth for our firm," said Todd Simkin, associate director for Susquehanna International.

The new unit will be headed by Amir Goldman, who came to the company in June. Goldman said it will look for investments in the Mid-Atlantic region and also consider opportunities worldwide. It already has invested in an online financial applications firm and a messaging solutions business.

Susquehanna International is a financial services company, focusing on securities trading and market making, investment banking, institutional sales and research, private equity and venture capital.
