Event-ticket deal links Philly.com, comcastTix.com

Online readers of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com can now buy tickets for some shows and sporting events via the Philly.com Web site.

Online readers of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com can now buy tickets for some shows and sporting events via the Philly.com Web site.

Under an agreement announced today, readers will be able to link from stories and reviews on the site to ComcastTix.com, where they can buy tickets to shows and events.

The agreement between Philadelphia Media Holdings L.L.C., the owner of the two newspapers and of Philly.com, and ComcastTix.com, Comcast Corp.'s recently launched ticket site, extends only to events in facilities where ComcastTix.com controls ticketing. They include the Wachovia Center, the Wachovia Spectrum, the Liacouras Center at Temple University, the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, and the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City

Ticketmaster controls sales at most other area facilities, and this agreement does not affect them.

Philadelphia Media Holdings and ComcastTix.com will share revenue fron the sales, but the companies did not disclose details.

Philly.com users will also have the opportunity to sign-up for a "pre-sale" notification e-mail newsletter, containing advanced announcements about shows in the area.

In addition to links on article pages, tickets and the e-mail signup are available at www.philly.com/tickets.

Philadelphia Media Holdings Chief Executive Brian Tierney called the agreement "another significant way that it can simplify people's lives by bringing area readers not only the most complete entertainment news and information, but also a new and easy way to buy tickets."
