Delco firm gets missile decoy contract

Defense contractor Alloy Surfaces Company Inc. of Chester Township, Delaware County, says it has received a U.S. Air Force contract for missile decoys.

Defense contractor Alloy Surfaces Company Inc. of Chester Township, Delaware County, says it has received a U.S. Air Force contract for missile decoys.

The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract from the United States Air Force will be for as much as $51.9 million.

The first phase, for $11.9 million, is for MJU-51A/B decoys that, unlike the conventional countermeasures, are virtually unobservable to the naked eye, the company said. These company said the Air Force should start receiving these decoys in the first quarter of 2009.

Alloy Surfaces is a subsidiary of U.K.-based Chemring Group P.L.C.
