The New Jersey Work Environment Council, believed to be the nation's oldest state-based coalition of labor and environmental advocates, has announced plans to join the Blue Green Alliance.
The alliance is a national labor-environmental partnership created in 2006 by the Sierra Club and the United Steelworkers and is dedicated to increasing high-quality green jobs.
The 23-year-old Work Environment Council was created during a push in New Jersey to pass a "right-to-know" law regarding hazardous chemicals in workplaces and communities.
