Pa. treasurer wins round in gaming board lawsuit

HARRISBURG - State Treasurer Rob McCord has won a preliminary but important round in his lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

HARRISBURG - State Treasurer Rob McCord has won a preliminary but important round in his lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

In a 6-0 ruling Friday, the Commonwealth Court said that McCord, as a nonvoting member, may be entitled to attend the board's closed-door executive sessions.

The ruling was on the board's preliminary objections to a lawsuit the independently elected McCord filed in May.

The board maintained that executive sessions are limited to voting members, but the court said that the state Sunshine Act imposes no such restriction.

McCord adviser Corinna Vecsey Wilson called the ruling a game-changing victory for the treasurer's office.

A board spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
