The Henderson Group of Media said it closed Nov. 22 on five office properties in Newtown Square that Brandywine Realty Group disclosed last month as being near sale.

Henderson's $42 million deal for the properties, encompassing 250,000 square feet on Campus Boulevard, represents a shift for the 90-year-old company from ground-up development only to growth through acquisitions as well, it said in an emailed statement Friday.

Henderson currently owns and operates more than 3 million square feet of commercial real estate and plans to reach 10 million square feet within the next 10 years, it said. The Newtown Square acquisition expands its Delaware County portfolio, while positioning it for future expansion into Chester and Montgomery Counties, it said.

In August, Henderson finished building the 70,932-square-foot Brandywine 6 office building in Chadds Ford, now home to the Franklin Mint Credit Union's headquarters.
