New Red Wing Center City store to feature high-end, U.S.-made boots
The Minnesota-based company is aiming to open the downtown Philadelphia store in the fall.
Red Wing Shoe Co. plans to open a 2,800-square-foot store at 1505 Walnut St. that will focus on the Minnesota-based company's upscale Heritage line of boots and shoes.
Red Wing is aiming to open the Center City store in the fall, Scott Benson, who marketed the property as a broker with retail services firm Metro Commercial, said in an interview Tuesday.
The storefront, which last accommodated a Puma sneaker shop, will be Red Wing's first Center City location. Its other area stores, such as Port Richmond and Springfield, have focused on the shoemaker's less-expensive lines of work boots.
Red Wing's higher-end Heritage products, which are made in the United States, range from $220 to $550 a pair, according to the shoemaker's website.
PH Retail, an affiliate of Philadelphia-based real-estate firm Post Brothers, acquired the 1501-05 Walnut St. property last year. The site is also home to AT&T Mobility and Club Monaco stores.
Red Wing was represented in the deal by Andi Pesacov of Cushman & Wakefield.
