When Pamela Stiner and Philip Lockwood bought their Chestnut Hill home in 2009, they knew they had renovations ahead of them.

"We knew that this home had more to offer and gave us the opportunity to expand the living space with our own design," she said.

They were set to begin renovations on the second floor when they bought the home in November of that year, but Mother Nature had other plans.

"Our progress was delayed by the record snowfalls during the winter of 2010," she said. "But we forged ahead and finally moved in permanently around Labor Day."

The previous owner had renovated the first floor, and Stiner said they have since done extensive renovations to the rest of the home.

"We did a complete renovation of the second floor by transforming a cramped, converted walk-up attic space into a large master suite," she said. The room now features a custom, en-suite bath and walk-through closet.

They also added a second bathroom to the second floor and a gabled dormer to the front of the house, which has been used as a nursery.

Stiner said her favorite part of the home is the open floor plan, allowing for views on both sides of the home. The back of the home also includes a deck overlooking the large, wooded yard.

She said the family has enjoyed its time living in walkable Chestnut Hill.

"The Chestnut Hill community has much to offer and continues to provide a tree-lined suburban feel within the City of Philadelphia," she said. "We love the walkable location."

Stiner said the couple has decided to list the home for sale only because of a job opportunity that requires relocation.

"With all the work that we have put into the house and the incredible location, we certainly hate to leave," she said.

The property is listed with the Silvel Group's Mark Malfara at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach for $649,900.
