On The Market: Secluded mid-century stunner in Bala Cynwyd
Jerome and Lori Marcus had already been living in leafy Bala Cynwyd for 13 years when they found a home one street over they thought would be perfect for their children. They bought it in 2012.
"We loved the setting," said Lori Marcus.
The contemporary home is situated on nearly an acre of wooded land. Mid-century style windows provide excellent views of the property.
"The huge floor-to-ceiling windows look out to the pool, which is surrounded by beautiful woods and magnificent plantings," Marcus said.
After closing, much of the work the Marcuses did to the home was focused on landscaping. Wisteria and other crowded plantings had begun to infringe on the property.
"We had to remove a tremendous amount of overgrowth," Marcus said. "It is gorgeous to be surrounded by green – but sometimes there really is too much of a wonderful thing."
The 3,278-square-foot home includes four bedrooms upstairs, as well as five full baths throughout the home. A fifth bedroom over the carport features a separate entrance as well as its own full bath.
Marcus said her children have since relocated to Florida, and the couple has decided that now is the time to sell the secluded property.
The property is currently listed by Keller Williams' Beth Samberg for $699,000.
Marcus said she believes new owners will be attracted to the home for the same reasons she and her husband were.
"The fact that there is so much light and huge windows makes the outside feel like it is part of the inside," she said.
The Marcuses also say the location will lure buyers.
"Living in the serene countryside, yet having a 12-minute drive into Center City cannot be beat," Marcus said.
