Dish Network settles with states

New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram said the agreement resolves allegations the company engaged in deceptive and unfair business practices.
Under terms of the settlement, the Colorado-based company will pay the 46 states a total of $5.99 million.
New Jersey is expected to receive $125,000. Pennsylvania is to receive $325,000.
In addition, Dish Network, a subsidiary of Dish Network Corp., will pay restitution to eligible consumers who filed complaints, either with the company or with a state, between Jan. 1, 2004, and July 9, 2009.
The company said that there was no finding of wrongdoing by the company.

DISH Network Reaches Agreement With 46 States
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., July 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - DISH Network L.L.C., a subsidiary of DISH Network Corporation (Nasdaq: DISH), announced today it has entered into an agreement with 46 state attorneys general resolving a dispute about advertising, telemarketing, and customer issues relating to DISH Network and its independent retailers. There was no finding of any violation or wrongdoing by the company and the states released DISH Network from the matters investigated.

The 46 states are: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
