Anchor Alycia Lane issued a statement yesterday pooh-poohing a New York Post report that she was coming on to married NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen.

"Rich Eisen and I have been good friends for almost 10 years and our relationship has always been purely platonic," Lane's statement said.

"We regularly exchange e-mails and photos. It's unfortunate that there was a misunderstanding over some harmless pictures of myself and my friends on vacation that I shared with him."

One person who didn't find the photos harmless was Eisen's wife, Suzy Shuster. The Post's Page Six reported yesterday that Shuster e-mailed Lane after intercepting "saucy snapshots" Lane had sent to Eisen.

Shuster, 34, a former sideline reporter for ABC college-football broadcasts, first complimented Lane's figure, telling the anchor "you look amazing in a bikini."

"Anyway," Shuster continued, "sorry but those seven e-mails you sent to my husband, Rich, well, oops, they came to the e-mail address we both use from time to time, but no worries, I'll forward the beach shots as well as the ones of you dancing with your friends on to his main address. Do you have it?" Shuster then gave Lane her husband's e-mail address.

"Since you surely are trying so hard to get his attention. I mean, what better way to get a guy's attention than with skin," Shuster continued in her message to Lane.

The twice-divorced Lane, who turns 35 on May 10, joined CBS 3 in 2003. She and Eisen, 37, attended Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism. We're told they did not know each other in college, but met several years later while working in New York.

Eisen and Shuster met in February 1997, were engaged in February 2002 and wed in June 2003, according to the New York Observer. The couple met at ESPN on Shuster's first day as an associate producer at the network, where Eisen anchored "SportsCenter."

Shuster told the Observer that she wasn't interested in Eisen right away because "I was busy with that typical early-to-mid-20's thing where you look for a guy to treat you like crap," she said. "I liked a--holes."

Neither Eisen nor Shuster returned our e-mails.

Last year, Page Six reported on another Lane encounter with a famous man after she traveled to Monaco to interview Prince Albert on the 50th anniversary of East Falls beauty Grace Kelly's wedding, and ended up at a palace party.

According to Page Six, which saw a photo from the party, the "then-newlywed journo was seen cheek-to-cheek with Albert, her arms wrapped around him. In another, they're holding hands and dancing." At that time, Lane told us and Page Six there had been no inappropriate behavior. *
