The U.S. flag flew at half-staff at Turner Field on Sunday, one day after a fan died following his fall from the upper deck into the lower-level stands during a game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees.
Mary Beth Hauptle, an investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner, identified the victim as Gregory K. Murrey, 60, of Alpharetta, Ga. Murrey was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The Braves said Sunday they are "deeply saddened" by Murrey's death.
The fall in the seventh inning immediately followed the introduction of Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez as a pinch- hitter. The game wasn't delayed while medical personnel treated the man for about 10 minutes, applying CPR before putting him on a backboard.
This was the third fan death from a fall at Turner Field in eight seasons. In 2013, a fan's death was ruled a suicide. In 2008, police cited alcohol as a factor after a man died.
Indians president leaves for Jays post
A person familiar with the decision said Indians president Mark Shapiro is leaving the team to take the same job with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Shapiro, who has been with Cleveland since 1992, will replace Paul Beeston, Toronto's CEO and president, who is retiring. The teams will make the announcement Monday, said the person, who spoke Sunday night on the condition of anonymity because the sides were still working through some details.
CBSSports.com first reported the deal.
Shapiro has twice been named baseball's executive of the year.
