Is it a coincidence that the hot-pink $1100 Gucci beauty Melania Trump wore to Sunday night's second presidential debate included a sartorial flourish known in fashion circles as the pussy bow?

We can't really be sure. (A Trump campaign spokesperson says it was unintentional, CBS News reports.)

What we do know is that starting late last week, Donald Trump was criticized for lewd comments he made in 2005 using the p-word.

And that the Lady Trump is no fashion dumb-dumb.

Still, let's give her the benefit of the doubt. Designers currently are reaching back to the 1970s, and early working-girl fashions are popular this fall. This dainty, bowed blouse certainly fits the bill. (It's popular, too, selling out at Net a Porter.)

Although this hot-pink look was indeed eye-catching and harked back to second wave feminism and women's liberation, the silhouette erred on the side of conservative, especially in contrast to the off-the-shoulder Roland Mouret that Melania Trump wore to the first debate.

With the blouse, Trump may be reclaiming her husband's gaffe, using it to show strength and loyalty.
