INSTAGRAM RELEASED its year-end data Thursday, and it showed that
The 24-year-old pop star has the most followers of any celebrity (103 million) and was responsible for nearly all of the most-liked celebrity posts in 2016.
In a surprising move, Jill Stein has demanded a recount.
Seriously, how could Selena have 103 million followers?
That would be one out of three Americans? Or, since Gomez is global, 1.5 percent of the entire world's population, including toddlers and seniors - and we're fairly confident she's not that popular in Pakistan, Nigeria and Bangladesh, three of the world's 10 largest countries.
But we digress.
Selena, who recently spoke out about beating her demons, on Instagram beat out BFF Taylor Swift (93.6 million followers), Beyonce (88.9 million followers) and Kylie and Kendall Jenner (79.5 million and 68.9 million followers, respectively) to top the site's list of most popular celebs. The only men among the top 10 were soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo (82.3 million followers) and Dwayne Johnson (71 million followers).
Sheesh, that's a depressing list.
Selena also had eight of the 10 most popular celebrity photos and seven of the top 10 celebrity videos.
(It should be noted, however, that not all this Instgram popularity translates into dollars. Taylor Swift was this week named Forbes' highest paid musician with $170 million. Selena didn't crack the magazine's Top 30, probably due to a lack of touring.)
Selena's most popular Instagram photo, with 5.2 million likes, is an ad for Coke. Her top video, with 20.1 million views, shows her dancing and singing with a young fan.
Swift's most popular video is of her cat.
It's suddenly not so shocking that nearly half the country didn't show up to vote for president.

Potter'd in 2018
Broadway.com reports that the West End smash
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
will begin performances in Manhattan in spring 2018.
The two-part play caused a bidding war among Broadway theater owners, and the show will open at the Lyric Theatre after the 1900-seat Broadway house loses 400 seats and undergoes a massive renovation.
"I'm delighted we are one step closer in bringing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to Broadway and very excited by the proposed plans," said J.K. Rowling in a statement.

* Designer/filmmaker Tom Ford, who's busy promoting his latest movie Nocturnal Animals, weighed in on the question as to whether he would dress Melania Trump when he was asked on The View.
Ford took a more diplomatic approach then some of his angrier fellow designers.
"I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago, and I declined; she's not necessarily my image," he said. "Even had Hillary won, she shouldn't be wearing my clothes; they're too expensive. They're not artificially expensive, it's how much it costs to make these things. I think the first lady has to relate to anybody."
* TMZ.com reported that Rosie O'Donnell has apologized to Melania Trump for questioning via Twitter as to whether her 10-year-old son, Barron, was autistic.
"I apologize to @MELANIATRUMP - i was insensitive in my RT - i am sorry for the pain i caused - it was not my intent - i am truly sorry."
The person who posted the YouTube video that led to the tweet has also taken down the video and apologized.
