Man charged in stabbing death of ex-girlfriend

CAMDEN A Camden man, Jose Quinones, 36, was charged with murder Friday in the April 23 stabbing death of his former girlfriend, Madaline Morales, 27, also a city resident. She was stabbed 51 times, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's office and the chief of police.

Quinones and Morales had been living together on the 600 block of North 9th Street in Camden until April 15 when she moved into a friend's home after filing a temporary restraining order against Quinones.

She was found dead from the stab wounds at the friend's house on the 500 block of North 9th Street.

Quinones is hospitalized at Cooper Hospital in Camden, suffering from many stab wounds, although it is not clear whether he stabbed himself or was injured while struggling with Morales, according to a spokesman from the prosecutor's office.
