Dolly reaches out
Country great Dolly Parton raised nearly $9 mil for the My People Fund to help folks who lost their homes last month due to wildfires that ravaged parts of Parton's native Sevier County in Tennessee.
The Smoky Mountains telethon featured music by more than 20 acts, including Kenny Rogers, Chris Young, Reba McEntire, Cyndi Lauper, and Don McLean. In addition, several celebs, including Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney, made cash donations.
The My People Fund is a program established by Parton's Dollywood Foundation. Info: dollywoodfoundation.org.
Happy Harry & Megan
The royal PR office confirmed it Nov. 8. Now there's real evidence that Prince Harry, 32, is dating American actor Megan Markle, 35, known for her roles on Fringe and Suits. (Is he allowed to fraternize with commoners from the colonies?)
Brit tab the Sun has published pics of the couple at the West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. There are shocking revelations: Harry and Megan held hands openly, nakedly, blatantly in a public street. Anonymous Pal tells the Sun, "they are clearly not afraid to be seen in public together."
As I Lay gossiping
Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam will join the cast of Broadway mega-smash hit Hamilton beginning Jan. 17, Variety reports. Killam, 34, who will play King George, is one of five performers who will rotate into the show over the next several weeks. . . . Sixteen Candles' Molly Ringwald, 48, will join the CW's Riverdale in a recurring guest role as Archie's mother, says Variety. Starring K.J. Apa, the show is based on the Archie comic.
