Rosemont School student wins history essay contest

ROSEMONT Caroline Hecht of Newtown Square is to be honored at the Daughters of the American Revolution Pennsylvania state luncheon in June in Washington for her award-winning essay in the DAR State American History Contest.

An eighth-grade student at Rosemont School of the Holy Child, Caroline wrote an essay, under the topic "Lives of Children During the American Revolution," that was a journal detailing the day-to-day hardships of the children whose fathers had gone to war.

In addition to winning among eighth graders throughout Pennsylvania, she won among entrants from the DAR district that also includes Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington and Mexico.

As a result, her essay has been submitted to the upcoming national competition.
