Chesco academic competition set for Tuesday

DOWNINGTOWN Chester County high schoolers will match wits Tuesday in the final round of the county's Academic Competition championship.

DOWNINGTOWN Chester County high schoolers will match wits Tuesday in the final round of the county's Academic Competition championship.

Unionville High School, West Chester East High School, and current state champion Downingtown East High School will compete to become the county's top brainiacs.

The winning varsity team will compete in the state championship in Harrisburg on May 1. As reigning champion, Downingtown East High School will compete there regardless of Tuesday's outcome.

The students answer questions on subjects including literature, math, science, history, and contemporary events.

The college bowl-style contest began in October with 24 teams in the running. It is coordinated by the Chester County Intermediate Unit.

Tuesday's competition will take place at at 7 p.m. at the Technical College High School Brandywine Campus in Downingtown.
