School selection deadline is Nov. 13
The district is accepting online applications for students wishing to enroll in new schools for the 2016-17 school year.

IT'S ALREADY time to start thinking about the next school year. Sigh.
So, if your child will be entering high school next fall, or would like to enroll in or transfer to a new neighborhood, citywide or magnet school, the time to apply is now.
The district is accepting online applications for the School Selection Process through 5 p.m. Nov. 13. The enrollment and transfer process is open to district and nondistrict students who wish to apply to schools outside their neighborhood boundaries for grades K-12 during the 2016-17 school year.
To help navigate the process, here are a few tips:
Before starting the application - for a district and nondistrict student:
* Have the child's student ID number and password handy (district students only).
* Review the child's academic records for the most recently completed school year (grades, attendance, behavior and standardized test scores).
* Research schools of interest.
* Review the admissions requirements for the programs or special admission/citywide schools and compare them with the student's academic record to ensure he/she meets qualifications for acceptance.
Afterward, go to schoolselect.philasd.org and select the link for either current district student or nondistrict student.
For parents of district students:
* You'll need to register for a portal account to access the school selection application. Families will be able to modify the application until 5 p.m. Nov. 13.
All notifications will be sent through the student and parent portals.
For nondistrict families:
* Complete the application.
* Submitted applications cannot be modified. Make sure all information is correct before hitting submit.
Families will be notified via the email address provided to the district.
For more on the application process, contact the Office of Student Enrollment and Placement at 215-400-4290 or go to schoolselect@philasd.org.
