NBC's Andrea Mitchell to speak at Penn's commencement
The network's chief foreign affairs correspondent and Penn alum also will receive an honorary degree

Andrea Mitchell, NBC's chief foreign affairs correspondent, will speak at the University of Pennsylvania's commencement in May, the school announced Tuesday.
Penn is one of the first area universities to announce a commencement speaker for the upcoming graduation season.
Mitchell, a Penn alumna who previously served on the university's board of trustees, has been at NBC since 1978. She got her bachelor's degree in English in 1967.
"Andrea's reputation for integrity and fairness covering politics and foreign policy has earned her the status as one of America's most respected journalists," Penn President Amy Gutmann said.
Mitchell has been a long-time contributor to Penn. Last year, she and her husband, Alan Greenspan, the former Federal Reserve chairman, made a gift to endow the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy. They also have endowed two professorships and supported both the music department and Kelly Writers House.
Penn's commencement is scheduled for Monday, May 14.
