The Spanish-language TV network Telemundo says it has put one of its newscasters,
Mirthala Salinas
, on a paid leave while it investigates whether her romantic relationship with Los Angeles mayor
Antonio Villaraigosa
breaches journalistic ethics.
Her offense? This week Salinas reported on the news show that the mayor was leaving his wife, Corina Villaraigosa, but the newscaster left out one of the reasons for the split: Herself!
Seems Salinas and the mayor carried on an adulterous affair for the last year. (The L.A. Times reports that she also had dallied previously with the speaker of the state Assembly and a state senator).
An unnamed Salinas friend tells People that the journalist can prove she told her bosses about her relationship with the mayor and that she repeatedly asked to be excused from reporting about his marriage. But her request was denied.
Other sources have said Salinas lied to the station, saying she was merely friends with Villaraigosa.
Teva's wedding cycle opens
Tony Parker
and
Eva Longoria
's souls yesterday were joined in matrimonial bliss in a minimalist civil ceremony in Paris which was presided over by the city's mayor,
Bertrand Delanoë
. (French law requires a civil ceremony in addition to any others.)
Hundreds of happy fans who were gathered outside were disappointed and some booed when the couple did not bother taking 48 seconds to stop for a wave and a "hello" before departing in a black Mercedes.
Next up: A religious ceremony today at the Saint Germain l'Auxerrois church in Paris.
To top it off: The 250 guests will party down at the 17th-century Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte just outside Paris. Decadence shall rule.
Alas, Eva's Desperate Housewives costar Marcia Cross will not attend. She is home tending to her 4-month-old twins, Eden and Savannah.
Post-partum depression?
"I was in a hotel room on my own. I was sobbing my heart out,"
J.K. Rowling
says about those last precious hours she spent crafting the final words in the final paragraphs in the final chapter in the final novel about the life and times of Harry Potter. (The series' six previous books have sold 325 mil copies.)
In an interview with BBC's Jonathan Ross, Rowling said, "I downed half a bottle of champagne from the mini-bar in one and went home with mascara all over my face. That was really tough."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is due out July 21.
Furtado to wed
The lovely and talented multi-linguist
Nelly Furtado
has said "yes" to
Demacio "Demo" Castellon
, the sound engineer who fiddled with her tuners and recording equipment knobs for Nelly's '06 hit,
Loose
, Perezhilton.com reports.
The Canadian songstress, who's working on her first Latin album, has a daughter, Nevis, 3, with her ex-boyfriend, DJ and producer Jasper "Lil' Jaz" Gahunia. She and Demo began dating after she split from Gahunia in '05.
Kids in 'House' to wed
Jennifer Morrison
, who plays the caring and sharing Dr. Allison Cameron on
House
, and her fiancé and
House
costar
Jesse Spencer
say their wedding will take place by year's end. The couple, who were engaged over the winter holidays, tell InTouch Weddings mag all about the day Spencer popped the question. Spencer, it seems, has a serious
Tom Cruise
complex: He popped the question atop the Eiffel Tower, a stunt Cruise invented last year when he proposed to
Katie Holmes
.
Seems Spencer was in a really French mood. He confronted Morrison with "Veux-tu m'épouser?"
Morrison was silent.
Excruciating, no doubt.
"I was just staring at him, Morrison recalls. "I don't speak French."
Multiple yesses were issued after Spencer made the requisite clarifications.
Listen to this, Isaiah!
In one of its regularly cutesy polls, Us Weekly asked its readers, "Should

Washington
] Stop Giving Interviews?" The actor, who was recently fired from
Grey's Anatomy
for slurring a homophobic term at a costar, has been giving dozens upon thousands of interviews to justify himself, but has only succeeded in putting his foot in it again and again.
Dispensing some sage advice, 88 percent of readers said, in so many words, "Yes, please stop, please!"
