the Gershman Y's second annual auction and fashion show
featured spring looks from Adresse, Boyds, Joan Shepp, Knit Wit, Leehe Fai and Wayne Edwards, and jewelry from Govberg. Nearly 400 guests attended CityStyle, which raised $75,000 for the Gershman Y's community events.

Mayor Nutter, Philadelphia Housing Authority executive director Carl R. Greene, State Rep. Dwight Evans and School Reform Commission chairman Sandra Dungee Glenn were among the 10 Most Influential African Americans honored at a reception held by the Philadelphia Tribune on Feb. 13 at the Convention Center. About 350 guests attended the event, which also recognized 100 Leaders, including City Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller, Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers, and Delilah Winder of Delilah's food emporium, who also chairs the African American Chamber of Commerce.

The American Heart Association raised nearly $1.1 million for cardiovascular research at its annual
Heart Ball
, held Saturday for 700 guests at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. The black-tie event, cochaired by Comcast executive vice president David L. Cohen, University of Pennsylvania Health System chief executive Ralph Muller and Anne Cobuzzi of AstraZeneca, honored Bill Hankowsky of Liberty Property Trust and Alfred Bove, chief of cardiology at Temple University. Among the top live auction items were a 2008 cherry-red Jeep Liberty that went for $24,500 and three nights for two at Canyon Ranch Spa and Resort for $3,800.

The Mazzoni Center, Pennsylvania's oldest HIV/AIDS service organization at 29 years, is pulling out all the stops for its first big fund-raiser this spring. It began on Thursday when 130 artists and guests attended a reception at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue to get a sneak preview of the contemporary art that will be for sale at the center's first-ever
HeartWorks Gala and Art Auction

The benefit, chaired by Roy A. Wilbur of the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Heritage, will be held on April 26 at the Ice Box Project Space in Northern Liberties. The evening will feature a silent auction of more than 100 donated works by 65 contemporary artists, including Jack Pierson, Alex Da Corte, Virgil Marti, Elyce Abrams, Andrea Zittell, and photographer Zoe Strauss, and a live auction of selected works by Alasdair Nichol, a vice president of Freeman's auction house and frequent appraiser for PBS's Antiques Roadshow. A weeklong exhibition of the artwork and music performances will precede the gala.
